Impressions after H2O Battle

Last night I came back from an promotional event In Czech Republic. I was there since Friday. The whole sensation about it is really good. Tom Malina, the organizer of this event did a really great job and as it was a first edition it was very nice.
The only one thing we where missing was the wind. But to be honest that was a big test for Tom if the event is ready for such a weather. Because of that I saw that every thing was prepared for those conditions and there was a lot going on the beach. Windsurfing and kitesurfing shows on the beach, volleyball tournament and a lot of games and contests etc. Red Bull on the other hand did a good job with putting a stylish music car In the middle of the event. There was also a lauch of a new Czech and Slovakian windsurfing magazine called “Windsurfer”. First impression is very nice and hopefully those guys will hold the level and the next issue is going to be as good as the first one.
All In All great event In Czech Republic. I Just hope that Tom will try to organize such a nice event next year as well and then we will have some wind. Also on the last day we visited Prague and had a nice afternoon. We also went for a small live radio session on the Czech Radio Wave where we’ve talked about the event. The Mp3 from that interview will be available on my website soon.
Now I’m back In Krakow and I wait to leave up North for the first polish Freestyle event this year. „Fiat Freestyle Jam” will Take place from the 22nd of May till the 25th of May. I hope the conditions will be nice.

H2O Battle coming soon!

Last week I was invited for a promotional event In Czech Republic called H2O Battle. The whole event will be held on a Lake near Prague. There will be windsurfing tests, shows, slalom contest and a Freestyle Expression session. I hope the wind will come and I’ll be able to show something on the water. It will be my first visit In Czech so I hope I can see something by the way. I’m leaving tomorrow In the Morning and I will stay there till Monday. I will keep you up to date how the event is going.

Al 360 as a new sponsor

The end of the first PWA/EFPT event

Yesterday we’ve managed to finish the first PWA event this year. Wind still was pretty light but in the afternoon the weather changed and for one hour the wind was a bit stronger that’s why we could finish remaining heats. The level was unbelievable. All the top riders made some very difficult moves in there heats. Chachoo, shove it Spock or double Spock is now a standard. The best rider of the day was Gollito Estredo and he won the first PWA event. Second place goes to Marcilio Browne. In third we have Tonky Frans and fourth is Anxton Otaegui. Now the whole PWA tour takes a brake till the event in Lanzarote which will take place in the end of June. I on the other hand will compete on the 22^nd of May in Poland and then I’ll move to Greece for the next EFPT event.

Podersdorf PWA/EFPT

Currently I’m on the first PWA and EFPT event in Austria. Till now the weather is not really cooperating and the wind blows just below the limit. That’s the first event where we are competing in the new best move format. Now it’s all about making the most difficult moves, you no longer have to make a lot of moves but the more difficult that better. In Austria we had to make 3 moves on each tack in 10 minutes. It gives as more opportunities to finish the elimination in gusty conditions. Unfortunately the wind was very light and some of the heat should have been cancelled but you can understand the judges which try to finish the single as soon as possible. I was sailing against Andreas Olanderson. My heat was canceled four times and finally the fifth one was official. Unfortunately I didn’t have too much wind in my heat and I did only three moves. Andreas mad few more tricks and advanced. Concerning the top guys there were few surprises. Egor Popretynsky won against Thomas Traversa who couldn’t really get into the light wind conditions here in Austria. The next surprise was a lost heat from Kevin Mevissen. Kevin lost against Steven van Broeckhoven who proved again that he is really well prepared especially when it’s light wind like here in Austria. I can easily say that if there will be more events like that Steven will be on the top for sure. There is not too much to write about me on this event. I’ve learned a lesson and now I have to use in the next event. First of all I have to work on a setup for light wind conditions, my early planning and for sure more training it those conditions. At the moment we stopped on the heat number 20 so we still need 4 heats to go. The wind just died now and most probably it’s the finished for today. Hopefully it will come back tomorrow so we can finish the event.

Tarifa again

So I’m back in Tarifa and it’s great. Since I got here I was sailing mostly on my 4.2 and 4.7. The forecast is good for the weekend and then later a bit less wind so maybe I can do some light wind training before Podersdorf.

Anyway I managed to finish my Cape Town movie. Yeah, I know it’s already mid of April but still its better late than never. But there is one problem… none of the internet connections in Tarifa can upload such a big file so I will do it as soon as I will find appropriate internet connection. Sorry for the delay. I hope it will be worth waiting. So stay tuned as in next couple of days it will be on line.

Kosmo is back on track!

It been a while since my last post. I’m in Krakow now preparing for the next training session in Tarifa. I’ll be there for 10 days and hopefully I can train a bit before the contest in Austria.

Meanwhile I send a short press-realise about my brother Pawel competing in a rally:

After a brake Paweł Kosmowski is coming back to the PZM cup with new sponsor: MK Interactive & Active Space Solutions. Although the search for a new sponsor and equipment lasted for 4 years, Pawel hopes, he ménages to use the experience gathered during his starts in 2002 and 2003. The upcoming season is the ideal come back on rally special stages. “The Krakow Rally for sure will be unique, I have a strong sponsor, experienced co pilot Marcin Gerlach on the right seat and rally Peugeot 206 rented from Grzesiek Kostka. 100^th anniversary of The Krakow Rally Club which is the organizer gives an extra rank to the event, we will fight with the best drivers” says Paweł. The Krakow Rally comes back to the calendar of Polish Rally Championship as a second event in the season 2008. The rally will be held from the 10^th till the 12^th of April and our competitors will start in really strong A-6 group. 100 km of special stages is not an easy task after few years brake but Pawel and Marcin promise that they won’t give up. However they are aiming to have fun and they give weight to the fact that coming back to the beloved sport is contentment itself. Finger crossed!

Crazy day in Spain

That was a day full of surprises. Yesterday we started to go on with the double elimination. There a lot of surprises but everyone where talking about Andre Paskowski losing to Egor Popretynsky. No one really knows what happened but one thing is sure that Andre is not happy about that:

The star of the double elimination surely was Belgian rider Steven van Broeckhoven who won 6 heat in a row, beating rider like: De Rycker, Souza De Pedro, Niklas Strahlen, Remko De Weerd, Egor Popretynsky, Michi Rossmeier and in the end he lost to a Lanzarote local Anxton Otaegui.

The wind unfortunately dropped down so we didn’t finish the double elimination. We still have 3 heats to go and we can start next elimination. At this moment we have 13 to 14 knots of wind from the left side a bit offshore. The judges decided to wait till the wind change direction. More news soon.

Double elimination is starting again

The wind came back to Tarifa. In about 30 min we are starting the double elimination. We have 8 heats to finish the elimination. If the conditions will stay like that there is a big chance to start next single today and then I can compete again. I’m really counting on that and I’m waiting for the next heats… I will keep you up to date.
