„Show off 2008” is finished

The first Freestyle clinic with a professional photo shoot become to an end. The place for the clinic we have chosen Dahab in Egypt. We went to Dahab on the 13 of August and we stayed there for two weeks. We had 7 participants in age from 13to 31 registered for the clinic. Apart from me and the group there was a professional photographer going with us. Jakub Jacher was responsible for gathering footage and making photos from the clinic.

On the day when we were traveling we’ve met three guys on the airport in Warsaw and the rest supposed to come straight to Dahab. The journey was without any problems and all of the stuff arrived untouched. We arrived in Dahab around 5 p.m so it was already too late for windsurfing. We stayed in Novotel Coralia Club Hotel. The next day all the guys arrived and after a short meeting we went on the water. We had equipment rental and storage in Club Dahab (www.clubvass.com). We all were using Gaastra and Tabou equipment. After an hour on the water I managed to divide all in to two groups. This day was more of a warm up and getting used to new conditions.

Next days were a normal teaching days with photo shoot. In total we had five good days of sailing but we tried to be on the water every day even just for the light wind sessions. Although the wind wasn’t good all of the participants were happy and made quite a big progress only in those few days sailing.

We tried to do whatever we could to show the potential of freestyle clinics and I’m glad we managed to do so. If we would have a little bit more wind I’m sure all of the boys would learn a lot more. Anyway I’m satisfied about the trip and the group which I had for my first freestyle clinic. On the days we had no wind at all I was doing simulator session and video coaching from the day before.

“Show off 2008” for sure would be more attractive if we had better conditions but I still think it was a big success and a big step forward into a professional freestyle teaching in future. I would like to thank to all of the participants, Club Dahab stuff, Funsurf Travel, my sponsor and clinic sponsors. At this moment we are gathering all the footage. The DVD production is starting right now and it will be available with a movie and all the reports in the end of the month.

Show off day fourteen

The last day in Dahab is finished so Freestyle clinic „show off 2008” is ended. We had a good day on the water so everyone is happy. Although we didn’t had so much wind I’m really happy about the trip. We did ad much as we could in those tricky conditions. The group was very good so I’m very happy I had them as my participants in this clinic and I really want to thank them for great time in Dahab.

We are leaving back to Poland at 4 o’clock in the morning so probably I will arrive in Krakow around noon. The final report and photos will come online in few days.

Show off day thirteen

The day before we leave started not very well. There was no wind in the morning and it didn’t change later so we didn’t have a chance to go on the water. Tomorrow we have our last day so let’s hope we can finish the trip with a positive sailing session. We will see…

Show off day twelve

Sunday in Dahab was quite good. In the morning we had a short session on bigger sails. Unfortunately the wind didn’t stay till late but in the afternoon we went out on big board and trained all the moves in the light wind.

The forecast for tomorrow is good so all of us will finish the evening fast and will get ready for tomorrow morning.

Show off day eleven

Unfortunately today didn’t show up here in Dahab. Time is running fast and we have only four days left in Egypt but all the guys are trying to do as much as they can out of it. Late afternoon we went to Mazbat which is the local part of Dahab. We went around few local shops and improved are hackling skills. Later we finished the evening in a very nice restaurant and went back to the hotel.

Let’s hope the wind will be back tomorrow and we can still sail for few days.
