„Show off 2008” is starting

wtorek, sierpień 12th, 2008

Tomorrow the first freestyle clinic with a professional photo shoot, organized by JFK Studio, is starting. On Wednesday at 8:00 we are leaving to Dahab/Egypt where in two weeks I will coach and film 7 participants from different Polish cities. Jakub Jacher, a pro photographer is coming with us and for sure he will put a lot of effort to make fresh and outstanding windsurfing photos. The main goal for us is to secure a good progress background for our participants and collect a great photo/video footage which we will later publish in a lot windsurfing magazines and websites. After the trip we will produce a DVD with a movie from the clinic.

Every day you can check my website www.pol288.com for new updates on “pic of the day” and “move of the day” made by our participants.

You can follow the progress and updates on www.pol288.com

PWA Fuerteventura 2008

niedziela, sierpień 3rd, 2008

Unfortunately Just before the event In Fuerteventura I’ve lost my laptop that’s why I didn’t upload Any news on my website. Now everything is back in normal situation so I will keep you up to date. In a summary my last weeks I stayed in Fuerteventura training for the next PWA even. The competition started on the 24th of July.  There were 42 registered riders. All of them showed very high level and all of them wanted to fight hard for good result. On the first day of the contest the wind was really strong for my 4.2 sail. That day I couldn’t find a good rhythm and I lost two heats. Not the best start but we were planning to do 3 double eliminations that’s why I forgot about the first day and concentrated on making my results better. Marcilio Browne won the first double elimination with Ricardo Campello in second who won 6 heats in a row to come from 7th place all the way up to the final. Third was Gollito Estredo and fourth was Tonky Frans. All of them did great combinations like spock into culo, shove it spock or ponch flaka. On the next day the conditions where almost the same except there where bigger waves so it was possible to do some air moves as well. In the first heat I straight went against Ricardo Campello. I had a good heat, in the beginning I did a perfect burner and after that a nice shove it spock. Ricardo sailed very well and the battle was close. In the end of the heat Ricardo did a perfect Culo and I answered with a double gozzada but it was not enough to beat three times world champion. In the next double elimination I met Andre Paskowski, the heat was very close and the judges decided that Andre sailed better only because I crashed my burner. We did almost exactly the same moves expect that burner. Decision 2 to 1 and a 0.5 point difference. That day was a lot better for me that the day one. I sailed a lot better and slowly I started to advance in the ranking. Next day was again a single and a double elimination. In the single elimination I won with Nicola Akgazcyan and afterwards I lost with Kiri Thode but also after a close fight. In the double elimination I met Julien Quentel. I finished a double elimination on the 13th place. The big battle for victory in this event was between Marcilio Browne and Gollito Estredo. Marcilio sailed really constant that’s why already after two eliminations he was a winner. Second position went to Gollito Estredo and third went to Ricardo Campello. For me this event was not too bad except that first day. If I would do a bit better on the first day then I would finish a lot higher in the overall ranking. After three double eliminations I finished on 20th place. I’m really happy about moves which I have done in my heats against the best guys. I lost with small point difference which gives hope for future events. After Fuerteventura I’m 15th in the overall ranking after three PWA events and I hope I can advance few more places in the next event in Sylt. Now I’m back home in Krakow preparing for the freestyle clinic which I’m doing in Egypt called “Show off 2008”. More info’s about that soon. I go to Egypt on the 13th of August.

I will keep you up to date…

Lanzarote PWA 2008

wtorek, lipiec 1st, 2008

On the 28th of June we’ve finished a second World Cup event on the Spanish island called Lanzarote. We had 5 days of competition and we’ve managed to finish two double elimination. All the top freestyle riders registered for the event. It was a first competition where the new freestyle format could be properly tested. In Podersdorf there was not enough wind for that. And after the event it was sure that it was a very good decision from PWA. Freestyle started to grow again and became more interesting for people from outside of a windsurfing industry.
Every day we were competing on sails around 5.2 m2. It was windy on every single day except the final day. The level was outstanding. New moves like Culo, Kono or Burner combinations were made in almost every heat. There was no easy heat in the contest. Everyone showed good skills so you couldn’t make mistakes. The fight for the victory was between Gollito Estredo, Kiri Thode, Ricardo Campello and Marcilio Browne. Those four riders presented the best style, moves and technical skills. I have to mention a very good result from Andre Paskowski and Normen Guznlein who finished 3rd and 4th in one of the elimination. But in the end it was Gollito Estredo who sailed the best and showed the newest combinations of moves. The second place went to Kiri Thode. Third was Ricardo Campello and the fourth was Marcilio Browne, who won one elimination but finished worse in the other one.
I’ve sailed all my heat pretty good. In both double elimination I finished 13th and in one single I was 9th. In the overall ranking after the event I finished 13th. Till now it’s my best PWA result.
The next world cup contest will be in Fuerteventura on the 23rd of July. I’m already here where I will spend three weeks on training for the event. I have few moves which I have to learn before the next contest. I know that if I will train hard then I can to a lot better here and that is my goal for now.
I’ll inform you how is the training going.

Getting closer

czwartek, czerwiec 26th, 2008

We are running a next double elimination. In the first heat I went against a talented young Brazilian Ian Mauro Lemos. In this heat I did clew first flaka, gozzada Cana Brava, shaka Cana Brava and few more trick on switch. I won that heat and went against Tonky Frans and that was where all the fun started. In the begging Tonky couldn’t find a rythm and I sailed quite good. I did Funnel, eslider one handed diablo and a shaka Cana Brava. At that point Tonky did shaka flaka and ponch flaka. I’ve added a switch chachoo cana Brava and a clew first flaka. I knew I was leading till that time. Later unfortunately I messed up my gozzada cana brava which was not really clean and most probably that was the trick which decided who is going to win that heat. Tonky in the end did a culo and shove it spock and i replied with a shove it spock and a ponch. After the end I knew it’s going to be quite close. After the decision it came out that I’ve lost with a half a point difference and it was that gozzada cana brava which I’ve mention before! I’m really happy I could have a close fight with a third rider in the world and I know that if I work before fuertaventura then I can fight for better places in the next comp. At the moment I was twice 13th so in the overall ranking I will be around that place.

We have a brake now and the heat will be started again at 16:30. Tomorrow most probably we will start another single elimination.
